Obviously, I'm not a designer or an expert in the area (though I like to pretend :P), but I wanted to make this blog to try to connect new york fashion week to you and your life. Basically... I want to become the intermediary between fashion discussions that can be difficult to understand and the "average Jo(e)'s" (no pun intended) of the world who want to be fashionable in their day to day lives.
Some of the most talked about collections so far are BCBG Max Azria, Jason Wu, Kate Spade, Richard Chai, Nicholas K, Noon by Noor, Zimmermann, Rebecca Minkoff, Chadwick Bell, Candela, and Peter Som (to name a few haha).
Though the looks are vast and each designer has their own taste and tact, there are already some agreements in shape, cut, and design for Spring 2014. Here they are..(and they all start with an "M" :)
1. MONOCHROMATIC. An already up and coming trend for today's fashion, the use of a single color (specifically white, black, and neutrals) is going to be popular this spring as well.

2. MINIMALISTIC. Simplicity in design and minimalistic in feel, spring 2014 will bring about crisp and clean cuts with a less is more attitude. However, the looks seem to be consistent with the contradiction theme we've seen lately. For example, simple and clean cut designs can be offset with intricate detailing. Or, a simple, monochromatic color with a complex shape.

3. MODERN. Hand in hand with the previous two, the collections will be modern. Flirty and girly silhouettes are modernized with new fabrics and prints. Designers play with shapes fabrics, and lengths to modernize the looks of Spring/Summer 2014.
