thanks a latte (recipe)

Lately I have been loving iced lattes more than hot coffee (most likely because I want to force spring/summer to come quicker haha).  My favorite lattes are the skinny vanilla latte and skinny caramel macchiato from Starbucks. But as you can imagine, this can put some damage on your wallet.  Add it to my late chai tea/passion tea/green tea obsessions and I will be flat broke haha.  In lieu of this, today I decided to try to make my own iced coffee/"latte".

Somewhat to my surprise, it turned out great! I used only ingredients I already had, and even though it could never replace my love for Starbucks, it is a great everyday solution for the iced latte craving that your bank account will thank you for :)

follow the jump for the recipe...

So let's get to it. I thought I should let you know beforehand that I don't actually have measuring tools with me at school, so I'll use "spoonfuls" or guesstimate (which is actually rather fun because it makes it your own creation!)

Ingredients for my Iced Mocha "Latte" ("latte" in quotes because it's not actually espresso :P)
-Bold coffee (chilled) *I would use espresso if you have an espresso machine of course, but strong coffee works too!
-Almond Milk
-Cocoa powder (I used about a half spoonful...depends how much flavor you want!)
-Honey
-Ice

Instructions:
Stir all ingredients together, flavor to taste, and enjoy!

  • Welcome to my little coffee bar (thanks to my mom for the cute sign and to my Aunt for the great little carousel k-cup holder!)

  • Here is the baking cocoa powder I used. It was a bit expensive but that's normal for organic items and I love the fact that it proclaims fair trade!

  • Standard honey for a natural sweetener ;)

  • Almond milk..yum!

  • Mix, add ice, and throw it in your favorite to-go cup!

I will definitely be using this little "recipe" again and often! I hope to try different flavors as well, maybe caramel or vanilla! Hope you like it too :) xoxo
